Are life insurance cover letters needed for every client situation?
The short answer is no.
But if you’ve been in the business for even a short amount of time, you probably know that underwriters love to ask for cover letters. What they don’t tell you, however, is how to write a good cover letter that can sway the opinion of your clients’ application.
In a nutshell, here’s what most underwriters look for in life insurance cover letters:
- Clear and succinct writing
- No unnecessary information
- One page in length (or shorter)
- Realistic expectations about your clients’ risks and health
